Russell's Boomhower Signs with Butler

Boomhower Signing on Feb 6Russell High School's Jesse Boomhower is joining one of the top junior college football programs in the nation.

The RHS senior signed a national letter of intent with Butler Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Amos Morris Gym in Russell.

RHS Senior Jesse BoomhowerBoomhower (6-2, 275) is a two-time All-NCAA selection as an offensive lineman.  He started at guard or tackle as a sophomore, junior and senior and received varsity time all four years in high school.  On defense, Boomhower played linebacker as a freshman and sophomore and end or tackle as a junior and senior.  He finished with 76 career tackles.

Butler Community College is a member of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.  The Grizzlies are coached by Troy Morrell and have won six national titles since 1981.  Their most recent came in 2008.  Last fall, Butler went 11-1 and finished national runner-ups.
