Lady Broncos Back at .500 with Sweep

The Russell High School softball team ran their winning streak to four with a sweep of Minneapolis on Tuesday, April 16 at the Memorial Park Complex in Russell.

The Lady Broncos scored in every inning in the opener and won 11-1 in five innings.  Russell scored three runs in the first, six in the second and cruised to a 14-2 win in five innings in game two.

Russell had 21 hits in the doubleheader.  Megan Boxberger went 4-for-4 with three doubles and seven RBI in game one.  Kaci Nuss at two hits.  In game two, Alex Ptacek had a double and an inside-the-park homerun.  Anna Plante had a pair of hits and three RBI.  Chantal Prester had two doubles and three runs scored.

Plante (5-3) earned the win in each game.  In the opener, the senior righty allowed one run and three hits over five innings.  In game two, Plante held Minneapolis to two runs on three hits over five innings.

Russell is now 5-5 overall and 5-3 in the NCAA.

The Lady Broncos step out of league play on Thursday when they host Natoma/Plainville at 4pm.
