Russell Sweeps Ellis

The Russell High School baseball team moved to 7-5 on the season after sweeping Ellis on Friday, April 19 at Shaffer Field in Russell.

The Broncos scored single runs in the first, third and fifth innings and won the opener 3-2.  In game two, Russell rallied from a 4-1 deficit with a four-run, fifth inning to take a brief 5-4 lead.  Ellis plated two runs in the sixth to go up 6-5.   The Broncos rallied in the bottom of the seventh, scoring two unearned runs on three Railer errors to win 7-6.

Brandon Bachar (3-1) allowed one run and three hits over five innings to earn the victory in game one.  Kaden Rohr (2) pitched the final two innings for the save.  Chase Prester (1-1) earned the win in relief in game two, allowing two runs in two innings.

Russell had seven hits in the opener.  Brady Dinkel had two hits, including a double, and two runs scored.  The Broncos had five hits in game two.  Bachar led the way with two hits, including a triple, and four RBI.

Ellis committed seven errors in the doubleheader and left 19 runners stranded on base.
