Russell Swept by Rival TMP

The Russell High School baseball team had their four-game win streak snapped after being swept by rival Thomas More Prep on Monday, April 29 at Shaffer Field in Russell.

The Broncos lost 12-2 in five innings and 11-6.

In the opener, TMP jumped out to a 6-1 lead after the first inning and cruised to the win.  In game two, Russell took a 5-0 lead after the first inning.  But the Monarchs exploded for six runs in the fourth inning to go up 6-5.  Russell tied the game at six with a run in the fifth.  TMP took the lead for good with three in the sixth and added two more in the seventh.

Brandon Bachar (3-2) and Brandon Ridgley (0-1) took the losses.

Russell had nine hits in game one.  Bachar and Riley Pfannenstiel each had two hits.  In game two, the Broncos had eight hits.  Dylan Braun had two hits, including a two-run homer.  Bachar also had two hits. 

Russell hosts SE-Saline on Thursday.  It's also senior recognition day.  The doubleheader begins at 4pm.

A quick note... the Broncos will make up their doubleheader against Larned on Saturday morning at 10am in Larned before closing out the regular-season on Monday at Beloit.
