Lady Broncos Split with SE-Saline

The Russell High School softball team split their NCAA league doubleheader with SE-Saline on Thursday, May 2 at the Memorial Park Complex in Russell.

The Lady Broncos scored a pair of runs in the sixth to break a 2-2 tie and won the opener 5-3.  In game two, SE-Saline scored four in the third inning, two more in the fifth and went on to a 7-4 victory.

Anna Plante (8-3) tossed a complete-game, three-hitter for the win in game one.  Chantal Prester (2-2) went the first three innings in game two and took the loss.

Russell had 11 hits in game one.  Savanna Huff had three hits.  Plante, Prester and Alex Ptacek each had two hits.  The Lady Broncos collected nine hits in game two.  Prester homered and had two hits.  Madison Beagley also had two hits.

Russell is now 10-6 overall and finishes NCAA league play in third place with an 8-4 record.

The Lady Broncos play their final home games of the regular-season on Monday against Colby.  It is also senior recognition day.
