Russell Stopped by Hoisington

RHS FootballThe Russell High School football team will miss the playoffs for the seventh-straight year after falling to Hoisington 53-14 on Friday, Oct. 25 at Shaffer Field in Russell.

The Broncos trailed 14-0 after the first quarter and never recovered. Hoisington led 33-0 at halftime and 46-0 after three quarters. Russell scored a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter - 43-yard run by Reshean Holloway and 1-yard run by Chase Prester.

Hoisington outgained Russell 527 to 197 in total yards.

Holloway led the Broncos with 90 yards rushing. Kiefer Craig had 62 yards on the ground and Prester 25.

The Cardinals had two runningbacks top 100 yards rushing. Nolan McCurry had 156 yards and four touchdowns. Avery Urban had 146 yards and one score. Taylor Richter passed for 160 yards and one TD.

Russell falls to 1-7 overall and 0-2 in Class 3A, District 15, while Hoisington improves ot 3-4 overall and 1-1 in district play.

The Broncos close out the season on Thursday at Scott City. The Beavers are 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the district after wins over Hoisington (14-0) and TMP (51-7) over the last two weeks. Kickoff is at 7pm. Countdown to Kickoff begins at 6:30pm on Classic Hits 95.9 and here on www.krsl.com.
