Sacred Heart Sweeps Russell

Boys: Sacred Heart 63, Russell 39
The Russell girls dropped a very tight game at home Tuesday, February 11 versus Sacred Heart by the final score of 43-39.
The Lady Broncos trailed 11-10 at the end of the first quarter, 22-21 at halftime and went into the fourth quarter tied at 31. Sacred Heart pulled away in the final stanza by going 6-for-6 from the foul line. Russell only attempted three foul shots in the entire game and did not make any of them.
Megan Boxberger led Russell with 11 points on three triples. Janna Schulte and Kyleigh Kasper each scored 10 and both tallied seven rebounds.
Cara Donley led Sacred Heart with 27 points.
Russell falls to 9-7 overall and 6-2 in the NCAA.
In the boys game, second chance points and work on the boards was the difference as Sacred Heart handed Russell a 63-39 loss.
The Broncos trailed 14-7 at the end of one, but let the game get away from them in the second quarter as the Knight lead swelled to 44-20 at the half. Russell kept pace with Sacred Heart in the second half, trailing 57-28 at the end of the third quarter, but could not dig themselves out of the hole.
The Knights finished with 31 total rebounds, 10 more than the Broncos. Sacred Heart also tallied 26 second chance points to Russell's only six.
Eric Rourke led Russell with eight points and five rebounds. Reshean Holloway had seven points and five boards. Gage Nichols scored a career-high seven points.
Sacred Heart was led in scoring by Brooks Brown, who notched 15 points, all of which came in the first half.
Russell falls to 2-14 overall, 0-8 in the NCAA and has lost 12 in-a-row.
