Broncos Sweep Ellsworth

RHS BaseballRussell opened NCAA league play on Tuesday, April 8 with a sweep of Ellsworth at Shaffer Field in Russell.

The Broncos jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the third inning in game one and rolled to a 10-0 victory in six innings. In game two, Russell took a 3-1 lead after the third inning and added a single run in the fourth, two in the fifth and three in the sixth for a 9-1 win.

Brandon Ridgley (1-0) went the distance in the opener, tossing an eight-hit shutout. Brady Dinkel (1-0) pitched the first five innings in game two and allowed one run on one hit.

Russell had five hits in game one, but took advantange of seven Ellsworth errors. Taylor Rome and Kaden Rohr each had two hits. The Broncos had 11 hits in game two. Taylor Corley led the way with four hits. Dinkel followed with two.

Russell (3-1 overall, 2-0 NCAA) hosts Sacred Heart on Friday starting at 4pm. Both games will be broadcast on Classic Hits 95.9 and KRSL.com.
