Broncos Split in Colby

RHS BaseballThe Russell High School baseball team opened an eight-game road trip on Tuesday, April 15 with a split in Colby.

The Broncos rolled to a 12-0 victory in five innings in the opener. Russell fell behind 4-0 after the first inning in game two and rallied back to within one, but fell short and lost 6-5.

Brandon Ridgely (2-0) tossed a complete-game, one hit shutout in game one. Taylor Rome (1-1) pitched the first three innings in game two, allowing five runs, one earned, on just two hits and took the loss.

Russell had 13 hits in the opener. Chase Prester led the way with three hits. Brandon Bachar, Brady Dinkel, Kaden Rohr and Grant Weber each had two.

The Broncos had nine hits in game two. Rome had four hits and Dinkel two.

Russell is now 5-3 and will travel to Minneapolis on Tuesday.
