RHS Boys Second, Girls Sixth in Ellsworth

RHS Track and FieldThe Russell High School track and field teams both continued their strong starts to the spring on Tuesday, April 15 at the Ellsworth Invitational.

The RHS boys took second place with 77 points and the girls sixth with 52 points. TMP won the boys team title with 97 points. SE-Saline took the girls title with 83 points. 14 schools competed in the meet.

The Russell boys took gold in three events. Noah Gfeller won the 400m dash. N. Gfeller, Eric Rourke, Mathew and Michael Pfannenstiel took the 4x400m relay. Kiefer Craig, Rourke, Ma. and Mi. Pfannenstiel won the 4x100m relay.

Silver medal winners were Mi. Pfannenstiel in the 110m and 300m hurdles, Ma. Pfannenstiel in the 200m dash and Dalton Brand 100m dash.

Jordan Swanson took bronze in the triple jump.

Austin Donovan placed fourth in the shot put.

N. Gfeller finished fifth in the 200m dash.

Rourke was sixth in the 400m dash.

The Russell girls earned two gold medals. Lena Wedel won the triple jump. Alaina Gfeller took the long jump.

Silver medal winners included Wedel in the 100m dash and A. Gfeller, L. Wedel, Samantha Wedel and Samantha Ptacek in the 4x100m relay.

S. Ptacek took bronze in the 200m dash.

A. Gfeller was fourth in the 400m dash.

Angeleah Stierlen placed fifth in the pole vault.

Sixth-place winners were S. Wedel in the pole vault and S. Ptacek in the 400m dash.

Russell is at Plainville on Tuesday.
