Russell Boys Second, Girls Fourth in Plainville

The RHS boys finished second with 93 points and the girls fourth with 70 points. LaCrosse won the boys team title with 108 points and Oberlin-Decatur Community girls with 111 points.
The Russell girls took gold in four events - Alaina Gfeller in the 400m run, Lena Wedel in the triple jump and 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.
Silver medal winners included L. Wedel in the 100m dash and Samantha Ptacek in the 200m dash.
A. Gfeller took bronze in the long jump.
Fifth-place finishers were Sammy Wedel in the 400m run and pole vault and Ptacek in the long jump.
Hannah Hoch took sixth in the 3200m run along with Paxton Pospichal in the shot put.
The RHS boys took gold in five events - Noah Gfeller in the 200 and 400m dashes, Dalton Brand in the 100m dash and both the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.
Silver medalists were Michael Pfannenstiel in the 300m hurdles and Brand and Mathew Pfannenstiel in the 200m dash.
Mi. Pfannenstiel took bronze in the 110m hurdles.
Fourth-place finishers included Eric Rourke in the 400m dash, Austin Donovan in the shot put and Gage Nichols in the discus.
Donovan placed fifth in the discus.
Jordan Swanson was sixth in the triple jump.
Russell will travel to Phillipsburg this Friday. Events begin at 3pm.
