Broncos Sweep Larned

RHS BaseballThe Russell High School baseball team earned two of their biggest wins of the season to this point, sweeping previously unbeaten Larned on Friday, May 2 at Shaffer Field in Russell.

The Broncos scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning and won the opener 3-1. In game two, Russell took a 9-5 lead after the fifth inning and held off Larned for an 11-9 victory.

Taylor Rome tossed a complete-game, four-hitter to pick up the win in game one. Kaden Rohr pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings and earned the win in game two.

Rome had three of Russell's five hits in the opener, including a solo homerun. The Broncos had 13 hits in game two. Logan Braun and Chase Prester each had three hits. Rome followed with two.

Russell improves to 10-4, while Larned falls to 12-2.

The Broncos play their final home games of the season on Tuesday against Beloit (8-6) starting at 4pm. It is also senior recognition day. Both games will be broadcast on Classic Hits 95.9 and KRSL.com.
