Russell Sweeps Beloit

RHS BaseballThe Russell High School baseball team extended their winning streak to seven after sweeping Beloit on senior day at Shaffer Field in Russell on Tuesday, May 6.

The Broncos scored four runs in the sixth inning to overcome an early 3-1 deficit and won the opener 6-3. In game two, Russell again had a big sixth inning, scoring seven runs in a 14-6 win.

Logan Braun 3 2/3 shutout innings and earned the win in relief in game one. Brady Dinkel pitched four innings and allowed five runs on eight hits for the victory in game two.

Braun, Mason Beagley, Kaden Rohr and Grant Weber each had two hits in game one. Dinkel and Taylor Rome each had three hits in game two.

Russell improves to 12-4 overall and 6-2 in the NCAA.

The Broncos go after a share of the NCAA league title on Friday at SE-Saline (15-1 overall, 8-0 NCAA). The doubleheader begins at 3pm.
