Russell's Suchy Signs with Barton CC

Kelton Suchy Signing 1 3-14-17Russell's Kelton Suchy will continue his wrestling career at the collegiate level.

The RHS senior signed a letter of intent with Barton Community College on Tuesday, March 14 at Amos Morris Gym in Russell.

Suchy was a four-time state qualifier and amassed an impressive 124-33 record at Russell High School. As a freshman, he went 26-14 and made state at 145 pounds. As a sophomore, he went 25-5 and went to state at 152 pounds. As a junior, Suchy went 34-10 and took fifth at 160 pounds. And as a senior, he went 39-4 and took fourth at 160 pounds.Kelton Suchy Signing 2 3-14-17

The wrestling program at Barton Community College is very new. The Cougars just completed their second season. But in just two years, Barton has finished in the top-25 in the national NJCAA rankings as a team. Mike Bammes, a former Garden City Community College and Fort Hays State University wrestling standout, is the head coach.
