Russell Girls Fourth, Boys Sixth at RHS Invite

RHS Track and FieldThe Russell High School track and field team opened its season on Thursday, April 6 at home with the RHS Invite at Shaffer Field.

The RHS girls placed fourth with 42 points, while the boys tied with Ellis for sixth with 21 points. Pratt won the boys team title with 82 points and Ellsworth took the girls side with 68 points.

Alaina Gfeller led the Russell girls by winning gold in the long jump and triple jump. Isabella Boxberger tied with three other girls for first in the high jump. The 4x400 relay team also took gold. The 4x800 relay team was second. The 4x100 relay team was fourth. Valerie Morgenstern placed second in the shot put and tied for sixth in the discus. Hannah Gruber finished fourth in the 1600 M run.

Tanner Brown paced the RHS boys by taking second in the 400 M dash, third in the 100 M dash and fifth in the long jump. Skylar Bender placed second in the 800 M run and fifth in the 400 M dash. Seth Boxberger was fourth in the discus and fifth in the shot put. 

Russell competes in the Ellsworth Invitational on Tuesday, April 11. Events begin at 3:30pm.
