Russell/Victoria Cruises in Ellinwood

The Russell/Victoria baseball team ran its win streak to four games with a sweep in Ellinwood on Tuesday, April 11.
The Broncos won the opener 16-2 in six innings and game two 19-0 in five innings.
In game one, Russell/Victoria led 6-2 after three innings before breaking the game open with four runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and five in the sixth. In game two, the Broncos scored in each inning with the big inning coming in the fifth when they plated eight runs.
Russell/Victoria had 11 hits in the opener. Tanner Rome had three, including a double, and drove in three runs. Austin Dale finished with two hits, including a double, three RBI and scored four runs. Colton Fritschen and Brooks Nichols each had two hits. In game two, seven Broncos combined for 10 hits. Fritschen doubled, finished with two hits and scored four times. Cade Evans and Cooper Swanson each had two hits. Rome had five RBI.
Cade Evans (1-0) earned the victory in game one. The senior right-hander allowed two runs, none earned, on just one hit and struck out seven over 4.2 innings. Four Broncos combined to no-hit Ellinwood in game two - Kyle Farmer, Walker Braun, Austin Dale and Cole Schmidtberger. Braun (2-0) pitched a perfect inning and struck out two for the win.
Russell/Victoria improves to 4-2 and will play their home-opener on Tuesday, April 18 against Minneapolis. The doubleheader begins at 4pm at the Shaffer Complex in Russell.Read More Sports
