Russell/Victoria Runs Win Streak to Six

The Russell/Victoria baseball team extended its win streak to six games with a pair of NCAA league wins in Minneapolis on Tuesday, April 18.
The Broncos won 18-6 and 12-1 in five innings.
In the opener, Russell/Victoria trailed 3-2 after the third inning, but exploded for 16 runs over the final three innings for the lopsided victory. The Broncos continued their hot bats in game two, scoring seven times in the second inning and never looked back.
Russell/Victoria collected 12 hits in game one. Tanner Rome and Kyle Farmer each had three hits. Rome drove in four runs. Colton Fritschen scored three times. In game two, nine Broncos had at least one hits and the team finished with 10 total hits. Kirk Huser led the way with two. Austin Dale had 3 RBI. Fritschen again scored three runs.
Cade Evans (2-0) pitched 2.1 innings of relief and allowed one run on one hit for the win. Three Broncos combined to no-hit Minneapolis in game two - Walker Braun, Austin Dale and Rome. Braun (3-0) tossed the first 1.1 innings and earned the victory.
Russell/Victoria improves to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in the North Central Activities Association.
The Broncos play their home opener on Friday, April 21 against Ellis at 4pm at the Shaffer Sports Complex in Russell.Read More Sports
