Phillipsburg Dominates Russell

Russell Bronco FootballThe Russell Bronco football team ended its season Thursday, October 26 with a 56-6 loss to Phillipsburg at Shaffer Field in Russell.

Phillipsburg (9-0, 6-0 Mid-Continent League, 3-0 3A District 14) scored touchdowns on its first eight possessions and led 56-0 at halftime.

The lone Russell (4-5, 4-2 NCAA, 0-3 3A District 14) touchdown came with two minutes left in the game when Hunter Reddig scored a two-yard rushing TD.

Phillipsburg outgained Russell 303 yards to 81 yards. The Broncos finished with 74 yards rushing and seven yards passing. The Panthers totaled 269 yards rushing and 34 yards passing.

Russell forced one fumble. Phillipsburg forced two fumbles and three interceptions.

The Broncos finish 2017 with their best record since 2010 when they also finished 4-5.
