Victoria Sweeps Otis-Bison

Victoria High SchoolOTIS-Morgan Leiker scored 13 points and Emily Sterling added 10 as the Victoria Lady Knights scored an impressive 49-39 road victory Friday night at Otis-Bison.

The first quarter was even between the two teams with Victoria leading 16-14 after the first eight minutes. The Lady Knights then outscored the Cougars 13-6 in the second period for a 29-20 lead at intermission.  The Cougars closed the gap to 34-30 after three quarters before Victoria pulled away for its second win of the season and first in league play by outscoring Otis-Bison 15-9 in the final period.

Maddie Wiltse led Otis Bison with a game-high 23 points while Sheridan Ewy added 10.

The Boys game was a thriller as Victoria hung on for its first win of the sesaon 41-40.  The Knights raced out to a 10-2 lead after one period thanks to five points by Tyler Knoles.  Victoria led 23-12 at halftime thanks to hot shooting in the second quarter by Caden Oberle who scored nine points.  In the third quarter, Victoria saw Otis-Bison steadily chip away at their lead and was only ahead 34-29 after three periods as shots that weren't falling for the Cougars in the first half began to fall in the third quarter.

Early in the fourth quarter Victoria's Walker Braun was called for a blocking foul and then received a technical foul for arguing the call which fouled him out of the contest.  Otis-Bison's Maitland Wiltse sank three of four technical foul shots to tie the score.  After the Cougars briefly took their first lead of the game, Victoria tied the game on a pair of free throws then went up 39-36 on a three-point play by Oberle.  After Otis-Bison cut the deficit to one point, Cooper Windholz scored a layup and was fouled to make the score 41-38.

Disaster then nearly struck for the Knights when they threw a pass away but the got the ball back when Otis-Bison's Caleb Cheely in an effort to save the ball from going out of bounds threw it right back to Oberle and then Windholz was fouled putting him at the free throw line with 10 seconds left.  Windholz missed the front end of a one and one and the Cougars had one last chance but Anton Foust's shot at the buzzer was off the mark and the Knights escaped with the upset win.

Oberle led all scoreers with 20 points for Victoria while Windholz chipped in with 10.  Wiltse led Otis-Bison with 18 points while Foust added 12 and Clade Anderson scored all of his 10 points in the second half.
