Two Broncos Make State

2018 KSHSAA State Wrestling LogoTwo members of the Russell High School wrestling team have qualified for the Class 3-2-1A State Tournament in Hays.

Stephan Baldwin and Chandler Schoenberger each qualified after finishing the top four of their respective weight classes at the Hoisington Regional on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 16-17.

Baldwin went 2-1 and took second at 106 pounds. Schoenberger also went 2-1 and finished runner-up at 126 pounds.

106 - Stephan Baldwin (2-1, 2nd)
120 - Isaiah Montiel (1-2)
126 - Chandler Schoenberger (2-1, 2nd)
132 - Caleb Powers (1-2)
220 - Jonathan Eichelberger (0-2)

Russell finished 10th out of 21 schools at the Hoisington Regional with 45 points. Smith Center won the team title with 194 points.

The Class 3-2-1A State Tournament will be held at Gross Coliseum on the campus of Fort Hays State University on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 23-24.
