RHS Takes Second in Hoisington; Birky Places Third

Russells Ryan Birky 4-5-18The Russell High School boys golf team opened its season on a high note on Thursday, April 5 by taking second place in the Hoisington Invitational held at the Lake Barton Course south of Hoisington.

The Broncos shot a 379 and finished just four strokes back of WaKeeney-Trego, who won the team title with a 375.

Trego's Dalton Mai won a playoff over Chris Fitzgerald from Ellsworth for top individual honors. Both shot an 80. Russell's Ryan Birky (pictured), a 2017 state qualifier, took third with an 81. Also for the Broncos, Cole Birky shot a 98, Garrett Ewers and Hunter Reddig each a 100 and Jayden Braun and Micah Nuss each a 107.

Russell plays in the Osborne Bulldog Invite on Tuesday, April 10 at 1pm.
