Russell/Victoria Splits in Colby

The Russell/Victoria baseball team split a non-league doubleheader in Colby on Monday, May 7.

The Broncos overcame a 3-2 deficit with a five-run sixth inning and won the opener 7-4. In game two, Russell/Victoria scored runs in three of the first four innings to go up 4-0. But Colby came back with five runs in the bottom of the fourth and four more in the fifth to earn a 9-5 victory.

Russell/Victoria had eight hits in game one. Kyle Farmer led the way with three hits and three RBI. The Broncos collected nine hits in game two. Cole Schmidtberger and Cooper Windholz each had two hits. 

Koby Decker allowed four runs and six hits over 6.2 innings for the win in the opener. Windholz pitched the first four innings of game two allowed five runs and took the loss.

Russell/Victoria is now 9-7 and will close out the regular-season on Thursday, May 10 at home with a make-up doubleheader against Ellsworth. The doubleheader begins at 4pm in Russell. It's also senior recognition day.
