RHS Girls Fourth at NCAA Meet, Nichol First in Two Events

Track Start Finish Line PictureThe Russell High School track and field team competed in the North Central Activities Association League Meet at SE-Saline on Friday, May 11.

The RHS girls placed fourth out of seven teams with 62 points. The Russell boys were seventh with four points. Beloit ran off with both team titles. The Beloit girls had 175 points and the boys 159.

Renee Nichol had another outstanding day for the Russell girls. The RHS freshman won the long jump and triple jump. Skylar Steinle finished second in the long jump and triple jump. Izzy Boxberger took second in the high jump. Jaclyn Schulte was third in the 800 M run. Jordynn Guenot placed fifth in the 300 M hurdles. Whitley Leiker was fifth in the 100 M hurdles.

On the boys side, Austin Price took fifth in the 200 M dash and 300 M hurdles. Dakota Whitman was sixth in the pole vault.

Russell competes in the Beloit 3A Regional on Friday, May 18. Field events begin at 3pm, prelims at 4:30pm and finals at 6pm.
