Echer Named RHS Head Football Coach

Jordan EcherBluestem High School Head Football and Head Track Coach, Assistant Athletic Director, and Strength and Conditioning Teacher Jordan Echer has been hired as the new Head Football Coach at Russell High School.

He will also teach Physical Education at RHS.

The hire was made official by the USD 407 Board of Education on Wednesday.

Echer is a Valley Center native and graduate of Fort Hays State University. He also played football at Sterling College.

He was at Bluestem for two years and coached at Valley Center before that.

Echer was 5-13 at Bluestem, which is a 3A school located in Leon near El Dorado.

He's big on community involvement.

Echer's girlfriend, Bailey Burgess, was also hired by USD 407 on Wednesday. Burgess is the new Career Counselor at RHS and Ruppenthal Middle School.

Echer replaces Jeff Brull, who announced in April he was leaving Russell to take a coaching and teaching position in Dodge City.

Brull coached the Broncos for five years, the last four as Head Coach. He went 11-25 as the Head Football Coach at RHS.
