Scott City Rolls in Win Over Russell

Russell Bronco FootballThe Russell Bronco football team traveled to state-ranked Scott City on Friday, September 28 and lost 56-7.

Scott City (5-0, 2-0 3A District 8) scored a touchdown and a safety in the first two minutes of the contest. The Beavers scored two more rushing touchdowns in the first quarter before Russell got on the board. The Broncos (2-3, 0-2 3A District 8) scored their lone touchdown of the game with 1:43 left in the first period. Russell quarterback Austin Price finished a 10 play, 78 yard drive with a 14 yard TD pass to wide receiver AJ Oste. It was the first touchdown and points Scott City had allowed this season. The extra point kick was good. However, Scott City answered with another touchdown at the end of the first quarter and led 28-7 after one period.

The Beavers notched two more touchdowns in the second quarter and led 42-7 at the half.

Scott City scored another TD in the third quarter to lead 49-7 heading into the final frame.

The Beavers finished the night with another touchdown in the fourth and picked up their 600th win in program history.

The Broncos totaled 61 yards on the ground and 108 yards through the air. Price passed for all 108 yards on 13 completions. Oste caught six passes for 64 yards.

Scott City totaled 388 yards on the ground and 115 yards through the air. Beaver running back Wyatt Hayes rushed for 196 yards on 17 carries and had three touchdowns.

Both teams threw one interception.
