Aggravated Burglary Investigation Results in Property Recovery, Drug Seizure and Arrests
On Tuesday, November 5 at around 6:20 AM, Russell County 911 received a phone call reporting a residential burglary in the 300 block of West 8th Street in Russell.
According to Russell Chief of Police Jordan Harrison, the victim was able to identify the suspect as 42-year-old Lee Arnet of Russell and provided a description of the property stolen from the residence.
At around 8:15 AM, Russell Police Officers located Arnet's vehicle in the 1600 block of North Kansas Street. The vehicle was occupied by Arnet and 52-year-old Kenneth Lunn of Russell. During their investigation, officers located some of the stolen property taken in the earlier burglary. Officers also located 23 grams of suspected methamphetamine in the vehicle. Both Arnet and Lunn were taken into custody and transported to the Russell County Jail.
The discovery of stolen property and illegal drugs led officers to apply for a search warrant for Arnet's residence. The search warrant was granted and led to the recovery of the rest of the stolen property and other items associated with drug use and distribution.
Recommended charges for Arnet are aggravated burglary, felony interference with law enforcement, distribution of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Recommended charges for Lunn are distribution of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Lunn is also being held on a warrant from Nevada.
Both suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
