City of Russell Fire Department Announces Promotions

The City of Russell Fire Department would like to announce the promotion of two individuals effective February 20.

Rick Webb was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief. Over the last two years, Webb has served as an officer for the fire department. Webb graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in business management and moved to Russell shortly after. Webb has three children, Brettan, Tyce and Lawket. Webb joined the Russell City Fire Department in 2009 and has achieved Firefighter 1 and 2, Driver Operator, Aerial Operator and EMT, along with other certifications. Webb is very active in the community serving as a Russell Recreation T-ball coach, a member of Shrine and he assists in the instruction of new firefighters. Webb works full-time as the Chief of Operations for Klema's Apple Market.

Mike Schneider has been promoted to Captain. Schneider moved to Russell in 1997 and later married the love of his life in 2001. Mike and Clarissa have three children, Kaiden, Kameron and Payton, and are currently fostering four little girls. Schneider joined the Russell City Fire Department in 2008 and since then has achieved Firefighter 1 and 2, Driver Operator and Aerial Operator, along with other certifications. Schneider was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2019. Schneider is honored to serve his community through the fire department and other volunteer services within the community.

"These individuals have been dedicated to this department and community," said Fire Chief Dylan Riedel. "They continue to show what it means to serve others before themselves. Help us in congratulating these individuals on their promotion."
