Colorado Man Injured in Crash on Interstate 70 Near Russell

A Colorado man was injured in a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 70 near Russell.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, at 4:12 PM Tuesday, a 1997 Toyota Tacoma driven by 70-year-old Carlos Hernandez of Aurora, Colorado towing a 2003 Honda CR-V was stopped on the shoulder of eastbound I-70 at milepost 186.8 two miles east of Russell.

The Tacoma pulled out into the driving lane and continued eastbound in front of a 2012 Honda Accord driven by 24-year-old Drake A. Wick of Clive, Iowa.

The Accord collided with the towed vehicle and caused all three vehicles to enter the median.

Hernandez was taken to Russell Regional Hospital with suspected minor injuries.

Wick was not injured.

Both drivers were buckled up at the time of the crash.
