Dr. Joel Adams Joining Rheumatology Department

Russell Regional Hospital is pleased to announce Dr. Joel Adams currently providing services in the Physicians Clinic will be transferring to the Rheumatology Department on October 1.
Dr. Adams will join Dr. Anderson and provide services to clients and patients of Rheumatology.
Dr. Adams joined the RRH Physicians Clinic in 2021 and has enjoyed getting familiar with RRH services and departments while also allowing time for his family to get established in the Russell community. Russell Regional Hospital is excited to have Dr. Adams join the Rheumatology Department to sustain and grow the vital needs of the service in central and western Kansas. Through mentoring and shadowing Dr. Anderson, Dr. Adams found a passion in wanting to work in the rheumatology sector.
Dr. Adams shared, "Despite my brief experience at the RRH Physicians Clinic I was able to see several of my own patients that would benefit from rheumatology services. The rheumatology clinic has not been able to accept new patients for several years due to needing another provider and it was clear that the need is great as several patients travel for hours to receive care. I gladly accepted an opportunity to work with and be mentored by Dr. Anderson who requested my help for the clinic. We have already been able to establish care and begin treatment for several new patients and improve their function and quality of life. I have made wonderful connections with my Physicians Clinic patients and will miss working with them, but I have great confidence in my colleagues to continue their care moving forward."
The Physicians Clinic remains fully staffed and continues to offer walk in services Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5:30 PM and Saturday from 8 AM to Noon. Same day appointments are also available. Currently each provider is accepting new patients by setting up an appointment at 785-483-3333.
Audrey Varner, Rheumatology Manager, commented, "We are beyond thrilled to see rheumatology services sustain and be positioned to expand in the future. This service is unique and valuable to our region."
The Rheumatology Department is located in the southeast section of the RRH medical campus with the Specialty Clinic. For additional information or to schedule an appointment, please call 785-483-3131.
Join Russell Regional Hospital for an open house on Wednesday, October 4 from 5:30 to 7 PM to dedicate the new MRI and counseling services. Light refreshments, resource booths and tours will be available of the 3D Mammo room. A tree lighting will take place at 7 PM with Options Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse Services to create awareness of domestic violence awareness month.
