Russell Regional Hospital extends its congratulations to Dr. Tyrel Somers of the RRH Physician's Clinic in his recent success of obtaining the Degree of Fellow from the American Academy of Family Physicians.

The process of obtaining the Degree of Fellow is rigorous and must indicate time, talent and service.

According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, the degree of fellow recognizes AAFP members who have distinguished themselves among their colleagues and in their communities by their service to family medicine, by their advancement of health care to the American people, and by their professional development through medical education and research. Fellows of the AAFP are recognized as champions of family medicine. They are the physicians who make family medicine the premier specialty in service to their community and profession. A Fellow signifies tenure and community-based work, within organized medicine, within teaching, and a greater commitment to continuing professional development and/or research.

Dr. Somers commented, "It's truly a privilege to reach the Degree of Fellow, which encompasses the day-to-day work my career demands in a rural health clinic. Caring for patients and being part of the medical team is a passion and to be awarded the Degree of Fellow is an honor and achievement that I am personally and professionally proud of."

David Caudill, RRH CEO, shared, "I couldn't be happier for Dr. Somers in obtaining this prestigious achievement. His care, determination and motivation to help his patients is phenomenal. This is a well-earned accomplishment for Dr. Somers and we are grateful for his services at Russell Regional Hospital."

Clinic Manager Jess Deines added, "We appreciate the work Dr. Somers gives each day in the Physician's Clinic. Dr. Somers works well with patients and staff to help his clients find solutions and feel better. Congratulations to Dr. Somers, enjoy this special career accomplishment."
