Fire Departments Respond to Grass Fire Near Russell's Wastewater Treatment Facility
On Monday at 3:59 PM, the City of Russell Fire Department was advised of heavy smoke coming from the area of Russell's Wastewater Treatment Facility.
According to a press release from Fire Chief Dylan Riedel, the fire was confirmed in a wheat stubble field between the Wastewater Facility and Front Street.
Mutual aid was activated with Russell-Grant Township Fire Department.
Crews were able to get the fire under control and Russell-Grant was released just before 5 PM.
The City Fire Department remained on scene until 6:30 PM cutting down trees that were burning on the inside and mopping up hot spots.
The fire is currently under investigation by the City of Russell Fire Department.
