Foot Pursuit Results in Secure Alert for Bickerdyke Elementary
On October 30 at around 11:30 AM, Russell Police officers and troopers from the Kansas Highway Patrol attempted to stop and arrest Christopher Raven, Jr. at 2nd and Lincoln in Russell for felony warrants.
According to a press release from Russell Chief of Police Jordan Harrison, Raven fled on foot, but law enforcement officers were able to take him into custody at 1st and Maple.
As a precaution, Bickerdyke Elementary School was placed into a secure status. A secure status allows students and staff to continue with school business, but requires all students and staff to move inside and outside doors to be locked.
