Due to the Russell County Landfill potential closing due to high winds on Friday, January 15, City of Russell sanitation routes may be altered.

Sanitation routes will still be serviced on Friday. If the sanitation trucks become full before the route is completed, the remainder will have to be serviced on Monday, January 18.

Please make sure your poly-carts are out by 8 AM, keeping in mind that the sanitation trucks have no set time for pickup throughout the day.

The recycling trailers, located at 236 East 9th Street, continue to be available for use 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Recyclable items that can be placed in the trailer include glass, aluminum, tin and plastics #1 through #7. Please make sure these items are rinsed and placed in the appropriate bin.

Paper, magazines and cardboard will only be accepted at the Recycling Center at 337 East 9th Street. Trash is not taken at these two locations.

City of Russell customers that may have any questions regarding this notice should contact the Street Department at 785-483-2190.
