Good News: SPP Returns to Normal Operations
The Southwest Power Pool, which the City of Russell and area electrical companies are part of, announced late Saturday night it has returned to normal operations and has enough generation to meet demand.
The SPP said extra energy conservation requirements are no longer necessary. However, conservation, in general, is always a good practice.
Russell City Manager Jon Quinday said "I thank each of you and your organizations for conserving energy this past week. Your efforts and those of our customers helped our situation immensely. Thank you to the electric production crews for keeping the power on when other communities across the state experienced “planned outages” or “brownouts” during the 14-state energy crisis."
The City of Russell produced electricity through its generation plant to avoid "planned outages" during the days of the energy crisis.
