Let's Join Together to Bring Sound Back to Downtown Russell

Downtown Russell
Downtown Russell

For nearly two years, downtown Russell has been quiet. No music. No commentary during parades and events. And there's a good reason why.

The sound system installed in downtown Russell more than 20 years ago is worn out and no longer works. Speakers have failed and Mother Nature has taken her course over time.

Russell Main Street, Inc. is leading the charge to bring sound back to downtown.

Since March 2020, the group has been fundraising toward a goal of just over $12,000 and is now about $3,700 away from reaching that goal according to Executive Director Krista Whitmer.

Whitmer said not only will the new system provide better sound quality than the previous system, it can also be used for a variety of purposes for the community.

Russell Main Street, Inc. is hoping to have the new sound system installed in time for the Lighted Christmas Parade on November 28. But in order to do that, they need to raise the remaining $3,700.

To make a donation, call the RMSI office at 483-2897, email mainstreet@eaglecom.net or stop by the office at 207 East 8th Street in Russell.
