Natoma American Legion Auxiliary Thomas J. Hogan Unit 109 continues to provide annual scholarships for USD 399 graduating high school seniors.

The $250 academic scholarships support educational advancement in a university or trade school of choice.

On May 14, Auxiliary Chaplain Shawna Dunlap presented scholarships to graduating seniors Derek George and Gracyn Cotterill. George will be attending Dodge City Community College. Cotterill will be attending Toccoa Falls College in Georgia.

Both students submitted information regarding volunteer work, excellence in academics and essays describing their future educational plans. They have helped with the annual Veterans Day Salute, greeted and ushered veterans, and distributed roses to veterans and USD 399 staff.

Scholarships have resulted in leaders serving in the United States Military and in many professions around the world. For more than 100 years, the American Legion Auxiliary has served northwest Kansas with countless volunteer hours living out the motto For God and Country in serving veterans, their families, children, youth and community.
