The Natoma Lions Club recently hosted an appreciation banquet to honor members and citizens who continue to make a difference in active participation in volunteering and in leadership.

Club President Terry Tucker congratulated the recipients of the Good Citizens of the Year for 2020 and 2021.

Recognized were Mayor Rick Dunlap, Natoma City Administration and the Natoma City Council for providing service to others through their leadership, both in volunteer community efforts and in governing responsibilities.

They were recognized for their exemplary service to others, involvement in civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community, developing community activities, improving the quality of life and good relationships exhibited in the community.

The Natoma Good Citizens exceeded expectations by going above and beyond in assignments and difficult tasks in the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.

On May 16, 2021, a devastating flood swept through the Natoma community. Within hours, Mayor Dunlap, Natoma City Administration and the City Council met the community's needs by alerting the town, mobilizing rescue units, rescuing citizens and pets, organizing volunteers, and working tirelessly for weeks to help where needed.

The Lions Club and guests applauded Mayor Rick Dunlap, City Clerks Cecilia Young (2020) and Amanda Baxley (2021), Treasurer Ryan Cook, City Superintendent Roy Hockett (2020) and Superintendent Adam Kocinski (2021), and City Councilmembers Dale Eickhoff, Chris Broeckelman, Jesse Lyle, Kyle Koelling and Jill Koelling.

During the banquet, Lions Club State Council Chair for Kansas Diana Baumann and Lions Club District 17K Officer Tom Baumann addressed the members and guests with gratitude in the good work of the Natoma City Administration and in the Natoma Lions Club.
