RJSHS Reminders and Updates from Principal Dr. Dempewolf
The 2025-26 school year at Russell Junior Senior High School is over halfway through which is hard to believe. With that, Erik Stone with KRSL invited Dr. Andrew Dempewolf, Principal at RJSHS, on the morning show to talk about some of the happenings at the school.
The first thing Dr. Dempewolf mentioned was a few 8th grade students who competed in the Patriot's Pen essay writing contest. This contest was done by every 8th grader at RJSHS and consisted of writing an essay about what it means to be patriotic. Three ladies won for RJSHS, who were Bryleigh McKenna, Brynley Yarmer, and Bailee Hoffman. They will be recognized at a dinner this week at the VFW for winning this contest.
Next, Stone mentioned the new signage outside of RJSHS, including updating the sign to read "Russell Junior Senior High School" as well as new signage on the windows at the top of Amos Morris Gymnasium. Dr. Dempewolf had a couple comments on this topic:
Erik and Dr. Dempewolf then had a good conversation about how the transition of adding the 7th and 8th grade students has gone in its second year, and Dr. Dempewolf had nothing but great things to say, including:
Lastly, Dr. Dempewolf had a few reminders for Russell Junior Senior High. First off, he mentioned that there will be ACT testing in March for any Junior who would like to, free of charge. His other reminder was about parent-teacher conferences coming up in March. Things may look a little different this time around:
Lots of exciting things are still yet to happen with the end of winter sports nearing, spring sports and activities on the way, and half the school year left to go.
