Russell County 2024 General Election Results
Voters in Russell County, in the state and around the nation went to the polls Tuesday for the 2024 General Election.
According to Russell County Clerk and Election Officer Kristi Whitman, the voter turnout in Russell County was just over 70 percent.
Tuesday's General Election results in Russell County are unofficial until canvass on November 18 at 10 AM.
The Russell County Commission will expand from three to five members in 2025 and there were four contested Russell County Commission races on Tuesday.
For County Commissioner District Two, Republican Jason Krug defeated Democrat Brad Zweifel 502 votes to 218.
For County Commissioner District Three, incumbent Republican Duke Strobel defeated Democrat Charma Craven 451 votes to 170.
For County Commissioner District Four and a two-year term, Republican Dean Haselhorst defeated Democrat Neil Unrein 429 votes to 127.
And for County Commissioner District Five and a two-year term, Republican Alan Kuntzsch defeated Democrat Tom Mahoney 380 votes to 284.
Also on the ballot were two sales tax questions.
The Russell Regional Hospital sales tax renewal question passed with 2,054 yes votes and 1,056 no votes. It passed with 66 percent of the vote.
The City of Russell sales tax question for water infrastructure passed with 1,196 yes votes and 651 no votes. It passed with nearly 65 percent of the vote.
At the state level for House of Representatives District 109, incumbent Republican Troy Waymaster won Russell County with 2,628 votes, Democrat Keith Griffin had 309 votes in Russell County and Libertarian Peter Solie had 266 votes.
