Russell County Commissioners Approve Purchase of New Radios for Emergency Services

The Russell County Commissioners met Monday and approved the purchase of new radios for Russell County emergency services.

Most of Monday's meeting was dedicated to budget discussions. Budget requests were presented for District Court, High Plains Mental Health, the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Program, the Conservation District, Economic Development and the Luray Senior Center.

Diving operations for body recovery at Wilson Lake were also discussed. Russell County EMS employees Dalton Dreiling and Dylan Krause have been training with longtime diver Bill Hickert, are now certified and are working to replace Hickert for underwater diving operations. Hickert will still supervise the operations from the surface.
