Russell Country Free Fair is July 20-23 in Russell.
Russell Country Free Fair is July 20-23 in Russell.

The Russell County Free Fair officially gets underway on Tuesday, July 20 at the fairgrounds in Russell and continues through Friday, July 23.

Unlike a year ago when the fair was scaled down to just a few events due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's fair looks much more like it has in the past. Events include 4-H exhibits, shows and the food stand, a carnival, commercial booths, turtle and frog races, food vendors, free nightly concerts, a children's tractor pull contest and much more.

Fair board member Cindy Balthazor said you can't miss the 4-H food stand.

Money raised from the food stand goes back to support Russell County 4-H clubs.

Speaking of 4-H, fair board member Blaine Maier said there is a change in the 4-H show schedule.

The children's tractor pedal pull is always a crowd favorite and this year even more kids will be allowed to participate according to Balthazor.
