Russell County USD 407 Board of Education Approves Bid to Replace Boiler at RHS

The Russell County USD 407 Board of Education met Monday evening and approved a bid to replace a boiler at Russell High School.

Superintendent Shelly Swayne explains.

Board Member Brett Mai made the motion and it was approved unanimously.

Also Monday, the Board discussed COVID mitigation and protocols.

After multiple executive sessions, the Board voted four-to-three to renew Superintendent Swayne's contract for another year. Board Members Matt Nichols, Raeleen Reinhardt, Deanna Myers and Kevin Ochs voted yes. Board Members Brett Mai, Kathy Wallert and Ron Wedel voted no.

The Board also accepted the retirement of longtime third grade teacher Julie Bernard effective January 1.
