Superintendent Swayne: Keep Kids in School for As Long As We Can

The Russell County USD 407 Board of Education met Monday evening and discussed COVID-19 responses, data and planning.

In recent weeks, Russell County has seen a surge in COVID-19 cases and it's affecting the school district.

With that said, Superintendent Shelly Swayne said she believes USD 407 is doing what it needs to keep kids in school.

Swayne and the Board do not want to go to remote learning if at all possible, but will react if needed.

The Board voted Monday to continue with the reactionary approach. The Board also passed a motion of support in regards to the Russell County Commissioners and Russell City Council's action last week regarding wearing masks.
