Trober Wins Russell County Spelling Bee

The Russell County Spelling Bee was held Wednesday, February 17 in the Ruppenthal Middle School Auditorium in Russell.

Nineteen students from the Russell and Natoma schools competed.

The winner of the Russell County Spelling Bee advances to the 2021 Kansas Press Association Sunflower State Spelling Bee. The winner of the Sunflower State Spelling Bee will represent Kansas in the 2021 Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee in May.

This year's champion was Austin Trober (pictured on the right), a 7th grader at RMS, and the runner-up was Derek Chesney, an 8th grader at RMS.
