USD 407 BOE, Russell City Council and Russell County Commission Meet for Joint Work Study

The Russell County USD 407 Board of Education, the Russell City Council and the Russell County Commission met together Monday evening at Russell Junior-Senior High School.
The joint work study was held to discuss current and future projects for each entity, financial implications of those projects and collaborative goals.
It was the second joint meeting of this type since earlier this year in April.
Each entity started by discussing specific large projects on the horizon and then discussed how the three entities could possibly work together.
Repaving the parking lots and updating the electrical system at Russell Junior-Senior High School and increasing safety measures at intersections and crosswalks were just a couple of the collaborative goals that were discussed.
A countywide sales tax to benefit schools was also briefly discussed.
USD 407 Superintendent Jordan Perez said it was a great meeting.
Russell City Councilmember Blaine Stoppel said being informed is key.
City Councilmember Lonnie Whitten agreed.
No action was taken, but again, the entities hope to meet again together next year.
