3A Sub-State Brackets Released, Russell to Host Tournament
Brackets are out for next week's Class 2A and 3A Sub-State Basketball Tournaments in Kansas.
1A brackets were released earlier this week and 4A, 5A and 6A brackets come out later this week.
Russell will host one of the eight 3A Sub-State Tournaments.
The Russell boys drew the #4 seed with a 13-8 record and will host a first round game on Tuesday, February 28 against fifth-seeded Ellsworth at 7 PM. The Bearcats are 12-8. This will be the second meeting this season between the two former NCAA league foes. Ellsworth beat Russell 55-44 back on December 10 at the Amos Morris Classic in Russell.
The Russell girls are seeded eighth with a 2-18 mark. The Lady Broncos travel to top-seeded Phillipsburg on Monday, February 27 at 7 PM. The Lady Panthers are 20-0. This is the second meeting between the two MCL league members. Phillipsburg rolled to a 74-28 victory on January 6 in Russell.
The girls semifinal games are Thursday, March 2 with the two boys semifinal games on Friday, March 3 and championship games on Saturday, March 4, all at Russell High School's Amos Morris Gym.
