Alumni Celebrate 50th Anniversary of Luray's 1975 State Football Title

Over the Memorial Day Holiday weekend, several members of Luray's 1975 8-Man State Championship Football team came together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the historic milestone.
According to Kansas Pregame, Head coach Greg Heinze who led the Panthers to a 12-0 record received a standing ovation from those in attendance and assistant coach Jack Stoller was also honored though he was not present.
Former players in attendance at the event known as the Luray Alumni Celebration included: Lyle Green, Wade Brozek, Brad Ross, Kerry Brozek, George Cobb, Randy Hutchinson, Todd Dauber, Mark Schuler John Seirer, Tony Shiroky, Kevin Cedarburg and and Kurt Walker.
The Panthers outscored their opponents by an astounding 601-144 during the magical '75 season, including a season-high 88 points against Jennings. Luray wrapped up the regular season with a 32-0 victory over arch-rival Lucas then rolled past Healy and Lebanon in the first two rounds of the playoffs before outlasting Cunningham, 34-28 in the title game which was held at Shaffer Field in Russell.
It was the second and final appearance in the championship game for the Panthers who had lost in 1973 to Rolla 58-18.
