Brackets Set for Saturday's Sub-State Volleyball Tournaments
The Kansas State High School Activities Association has released the brackets for this Saturday's sub-state volleyball tournaments.
Russell will host one of the eight Class 3A Sub-State Tournaments at Amos Morris Gym. The Lady Broncos drew the #7 seed with an 11-21 record and will face a familiar foe, longtime rival and Mid-Continent League member TMP-Marian (26-10) at 2 PM. The winner advances to the semifinals and will take on the winner of the 3-6 matchup between Phillipsburg (24-12) and Ellsworth (12-22).
Beloit (29-7) is the top seed and opens against Riley County (8-27) also at 2 PM. Fourth-seeded Norton (13-17) plays fifth-seeded Minneapolis (10-18) in the other first round matchup.
The semifinals and championship will be played later Saturday afternoon with the sub-state champion advancing to the 3A State Tournament in Hutchinson.
Sylvan-Lucas and Victoria are part of the Sylvan-Lucas 1A Division I sub-state. Victoria (26-5) is the #1 seed and has a first round bye. The Lady Knights play the winner of the 4-5 matchup between Solomon (17-18) and Lincoln (14-16). Sylvan-Lucas (27-9) is the #2 seed and also has a first round bye. The Lady Mustangs face the winner of the 3-6 matchup between Ness City (20-13) and LaCrosse (13-18). First round games begin at 1 PM in Sylvan Grove. The 1A Division 1 State Tournament will be held in Dodge City.
Natoma and Wilson play in the Central Plains 1A Division II Sub-State in Claflin. Wilson (4-29) is seeded fifth and meets Chase (7-21) at 1 PM in the first round. The winner takes on top seeded Central Plains (27-8) in the semifinals. Natoma (2-29) drew the sixth seed and plays Otis-Bison (8-23) 20 minutes after the Wilson-Chase match. The winner faces second seeded Tescott (12-16) in the semifinals. The 1A Division II State Tournament is in Emporia.
