Broncos To Face Colby in Memorial Day State Quarterfinal Tilt
The back-to-back Regional Champion Russell-Victoria Broncos Baseball team will be the number four seed in the 2026 Class 3A State Baseball Tournament.
Russell-Victoria (22-5) will face a familiar opponent in #5 seed Colby (22-5) on Monday, May 25 at 1:15 p.m. at Dean Evans Stadium in Salina in a State Quarterfinal game. The Broncos earned the number four seed and a designation as the home team by virtue of their doubleheader sweep of the Eagles in Colby on April 2. Russell-Victoria also blanked Colby 6-0 in a memorable Class 3A Regional Championship game in Colby on May 20, 2025.
Monday's game will be broadcast live on KRSL 95.9 FM, online at KRSL.com and streamed on Alexa devices.
The winner of the game between Russell-Victoria and Colby will face the winner of the game between #1 seed Council Grove (26-1) and #8 seed Silver Lake (16-11) in a semifinal contest on Wednesday, May 27 at 3:30 p.m. The State third place game will be played at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 28 and the State Championship Game will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 29.
Other qualifiers for the State tournament include: #2 seed Jefferson West (24-2) facing #7 seed Girard (21-5) and #3 seed Burlington (23-2) going up against #6 seed Frontenac (17-4).
As of now, the Semifinals, Third Place Game and Championship Game are slated to be held at the University of Kansas' Hoglund Ballpark in Lawrence. However, KU's Baseball team which won the Big 12 regular season title and is the #1 seed in the ongoing Big 12 Tournament has a chance to host an NCAA Regional which would make the facility unavailable for the State Tournament. If the Jayhawks do host a Regional, the final three games of the State Tournament will shift to Kansas State University's Tointon Family Stadium in Manhattan with game times and dates remaining the same.
