Broncos Well Represented in MCL 11-Man All-League Selections

The Mid-Continent League announced their 11-Man All-League selections this week and several Russell Bronco Football players were recognized by the league's coaches including two with unanimous selections.

Five players were named to the First team including Trey Zorn at Quarterback, Sam Thielen at Wide Receiver and Defensive Back, Walker Middleton at Wide Receiver, Wyatt Harmon at Linebacker and Ian Strobel at Offensive Lineman and Defensive Lineman.  Thielen was a unanimous selection at Defensive Back and Middleton received a unanimous vote at Wide Receiver.

Named to the second team for Russell were Wyatt Harmon at Running Back, Dominick Hernandez at Wide Receiver and Alex Krug at Punter.

Players receiving Honorable Mention nods include Max Evans at Wide Receiver, Jamis Self at Offensive Lineman, Alex Krug at Linebacker and Corbin William at Defensive Line.  In all, 10 different players received All-League recognition.

Russell put together its winningest record in 22 years with a 7-3 mark while advancing to the Regional round of the Class 2A State playoffs during head coach Cole Greenwood's second season at the helm, which featured four road victories, including the season opener at TMP-Marian and the first road playoff win since 1979 when the Broncos defeated Cimarron in the first round.  On it's home slate, Russell defeated Norton for just the second time in program history.
